Prop labbing question
 

Can a prop that has been repaired be labbed or is it best to start out with a new casting I'm getting ready to send one of my 23 mirage plus props to bblades and am not sure if I should have my spare prop labbed or send him my brand new casting

It SHOULD be able to be labbed there are exepctions to everything but if it was done correctly there should not be an issue. Best thing to do of course is send it out for a professional opinion.

That is a awesome question. We are always telling folks that we can Lab Finish propellers to our determined goals and results if they are truely stock or if they have been truely repaired to true stock.

It is tough to take performance numbers (speed vs. rpm) from propellers that have been repaired, expecting them to be stock casting spec. numbers, and know we can get you to where you and we want you to be. We do not know what has actually been done to the casting during the repair.

When BBLADES repairs a propeller, we take it back to actual factory specifications. Except, our balance is better. (that's another story). We do not reduce blade area to get rid of the damage. Sorry to say, that is a common method.

If that's the case what would it take for you to repair a prop I have. I caught a tear in a blade before it completely let go, can that be fixed? I'd love to have it back if for nothing else than a ready spare for when it happens again...

Some shops will attempt to repair anything. We draw the line on cracks, rips, amd tears depending on location and severity. Anything can be fixed for a price but it may not be the right thing to do.
All of our crack repairs, if more than "normal" welding repairs, require a disclaimer on the invoice stating not to sell or race the propeller. Radial crack lines can be worse than scallop leading edge welds. Of course we cannot guarantee anyone will listen to our suggestion.
