Whole lotta prop slip. Why?

I got my Seebold Eagle 265 back in the water recently. Its got a 330 horse 454 with a Bravo 1. I'm running a 23p Mirage. I'm only getting 50 mph @ 4600-4800 rpm. I've been told these boats are 60-63 mph boats stock. I thought maybe my motor is tired but I get full rpm out of it. I'd love to see this boat perform where its supposed to perform. Oh btw, the drive has a nose cone on it (pointless). I have no idea why this boat is so slow. Anything I should look into?

Straight Mirage or Mirage Plus? Is it carrying the nose at all or does it run pretty flat trimmed out?

Try a bone stock never repaired Mirage Plus propeller to see where the slip number moves to.

hmm, yea this prop has been repaired before. What does being repaired do to the performance?

bbladesprops 06-12-2013 09:53 AM

Unfortunately repairs done without exact knowledge of the propellers geometry or the tools and experience to put it back to original specs. can decrease the propellers performance or change efficiency. I always get question the propeller if performance changes after propeller repair.
That is why I suggest testing with a known new out of the box prop. We can offer you this testing option if you desire.

Hello,

Your slip is 26.5% which is extremely high. Try the box stock Mirage Plus, and if slip is still high we need to investigate other reasons. Does your current prop carry the bow, or do you use excessive trim with minimal results? Please call if the slip remains high, and we will get to the bottom of the problem.

Trimming helps get me a few mph. I can definitely feel bow rise when I trim up. From 3700-4800 rpm the prop just doesnt seem to bite at all. The motor sounds like its free revving for the most part.
