91 predator viper 24' tons of prop slip. *help*
Put it in the water for the first time this year after new build motor, and it just sits there and spins the prop.
I had 3 people and a full tank. So what prop should I go to. I have a 24 foot predator viper. 4500 lbs Full fuel 3 people. Probably 5500 lbs with everything in the water 496 stroker. 450-500 hp guess 3000 rpms I was running 35 mph Out of the hole It would spin or any time I got in the throttle. Dual imco hydrolic steering with extension box Bravo 1 drive with drive shower 1.5 gear ratio 23p mirage prop 3 blade ss It ran 60-63 at 5100-5200 rpms What are my next options I would like to gain a little more top speed I'm hoping to hit 70 Please help thanks a ton Justin |

prop slip is high..showing roughly 18%. Id try to get your hands on a 24 or 26 B1 4 blade to test

Hi Justin,
Call us when you have time and either Brad or I will ask you a bunch of questions and try to determine the reason for the performance issues you have. From there we can offer ideas to get you where you want to be. We have test propellers too so you can try stuff before you buy it. Thanks, Brett PS, if you don't have answers to the questions.............that's ok. We are here to help, that's all |
Your boat should wiegh around 4000 fully loaded with fuel and people. I weighed mine on a scale last week with trailer and low fuel and not much gear and it was 4600lbs with a 1150lbs trailer. My boat has 400hp, a 23 pitch worked Mirage prop and runs 66mph fully loaded with people and fuel at 4800rpm trimmed way up in perfect conditions. Since you have around 500hp you need to start with a 26p 4 blade bravo and go from there. cdaniel525 has a 24/7 like us with 500hp and runs a 26p 4 blade bravo and his boat runs great and over 70mph.

When I got my boat it had a 26p 4 blade bravo because the guy I bought it from had the prop stolen and bought the first used prop he could find. It had the original 330hp Merc engine and I could only spin the 26p to 4100rpm but would run 63mph with fuel and two people in the boat.

How deep is your prop shaft? Standard mirages will blow out easily. As suggested you can try a Bravo or a Rev4. I'd even try a Mirage Plus.
