stumped?? picked up 800 rpms with 2" of pitch while heavier.
 

98 33 outlaw, 20 hrs on new 454 mags

Came with 25p M+ and ran 5k and 68 in VA during spring 50 degrees.

Ran 4800 at 65 cpl weeks later down here while hot and humid.

Heat of summer with 25p, best of 4- 4100 at 61-62 normal load, running 9% slip..

With 23 p M+. 4800 at 63 with more weight in boat also.. still at 9.5% slip??

Neither really holding bow up and getting boat out of water..

Gain of 7-800 rpmsdropping down by 2"??

Goal is 3500 or so cruise.. 25 was at 50 and 23 was 46mph..

What now?
Do want to try some 24 p B1..

Could bblades work the 25p to get some rpms back and keep cruise at same time? Would like to be 47-4800 during heat of summer..
Don't think 23s are what I want, would have ran them close to 5k light and cool would be on rev limit.

put the 25's back on and fill the engine bay with ice .:party-smiley-004::lolhit:

That is exactly what you want you should be banging the rev limiter in cool weather with just you on the boat, no gear and very light on fuel. You can try 22 or 24 bravos to see how it runs but you don't want to be overpropped. You should be able to get to max RPM or close even in summer which is why you want to be just touching the limiter in ideal conditions.

Agree, the 23's are a little under propped I think. I had 5 full size adults and 4 kids with 100 gal of fuel and hot as hell.
I would like to be at 4800-4900 with normal load (2 adults and 2 kids) in this heat for a better cruise speed (goal). That would then put me over 5k in cool weather easily.

thought it was weird that I picked up right at 800 rpms.. probably just due to being so far down wot range in heat/humidity (torque curve).

I think, I need try to find some 24p b1s or some 23p rev 4's. Or maybe just call Brett to see if he can work the 25p M+'s down to a 24p overall (with cup)

Anyone try rev4's on a 33 or 342?? my 25 OL liked it, the rake held the bow up well and was really efficient on cruise. Oh and I have not tried turning IN yet.. Didn't want to do that for any extended time turning drives backwards with whole family in boat.

goal = best possible cruise speed without lugging engines down. Cruise rpms 32-35 and Poker Run cruise as high as 4k.

Spin the props in or give Brett your M+ either way, you will eventually find better bow lift. KEEP IN MIND the M+ will probably be easier to find and cheaper just my .02 cents. Probably cheaper to get labbed too as its one less blade. Everyone wants Bravos' but the M+ is pretty hard to beat (on a 33/342)

M+ actually have great bow lift. I cant run 3 blades anymore but before I put boxes on my boat, the M+ was one of the fastest props. I will bet he can get as good or better performance out of hte 3 blades

33's/342's have somewhere between 6 to 7 inch X dimension so 3 blades work great. See what Brett recommends, they worked great on my boat before the boxes... I will bet he can get better bow lift and speed with the 3 blades... cruise, not sure. (I'm at 3.75 X dimension now so 3 blades wont cut it...)

I can't believe you lost that many RPM's with the 25's between spring and summer. My boat varies no more than 200 RPM between best and worst case weather/load conditions.

Keith, did you pick up any RPMS turning in?? I was also able to run with the 23's trimmed out a good bit further than the 25's before porpoising a lil. I had a nice lil rooster tail (as high as boat) with the 23s.
So, I might need to try the 25s again now that I know where I should be trimmed at..

KNOT: I was surprised too... that seemed like a lot of rpms.... hell maybe it just needs to be trimmed out a lot more than I was trying.. Had kids in boat so I wasn't really trying to freak them out but yesterday with 23s, I just started trimming until it blew out.. which it didn't.

I left a message for Brett to call me back this am.. so I can see which direction I should go..

Dont leap so fast grasshopper. You are still getting familiar with the boat. Keep running that puppy till you are tweaked out and know the nuances of every MPH and what trim and tab it takes to be as efficient as possible. Once you have it "optimized" then move with labbing. Know your boat really well so you know what you picked up or lost. Once you can tell you have 50 gallons of fuel or 100 gallons of fuel by your trim and tab you can get your props labbed... lol

However, I wouldnt be surprised if option B was right as well.
