Fixed Hub and Not Fixed??

What is the benefits and can they both be used on a bravo out drive?

I am tossed between two hydro props but one has a "Fixed" hub... Not sure if that is good or bad??

Thanks Guys~

Chris,

Solid hubs don't "break away" with prop strikes. Mercury suggests solid hubs over 400 HP. I suggest solid hubs over 300HP. (unless you run often in shallow water areas) High HP applications will ultimately break the delrin/plastic insert just from torque loads.
Make sure the hydro hub is the correct spline configuration. Hydro went from round bore rubber hubs to welded in 15 and 19 spline solid inserts. Eventually they had the foundry they use retool to the Mercury square bore so they could use the Mercury hub system. I'd shy away from the old round rubber hub Hydros.

So here is my next question... I have two props I am looking at. I know I should probably just buy both but what do you suggest for one?

4 blade non fixed HYDROMOTIVE INTIMIDATOR Q-IV 27 PITCH $150
Or
3 blade Merc Racing Prop Fixed Hub 25p $125

These are pretty large in variation from each other.
Do you have current propeller performance numbers?

Right now I am running a 23P 3 Blade Mirage. I have a lot of slip. I am running 72mph on gps at 5400ish rpms. My max hp on my dyno sheet is 4800 @550hp on my 496 Stroker.

I have been told a 26 Hydro would work the best but I have not found one yet for a good price plus mine has to be LH rotation. So those two props above are what I have found so far. Keep in mind I live in MN so we maybe have 2 months left of boating season...

I would like to see if I can get 80mph out of it.

Thoughts??

If your gear ratio is 1.5:1 your slip is incredibly low at 8.17%
I would shy away from the cleaver since you need to decrease the rpm by 600 and that prop is only 2" higher in pitch with a typically higher slip %.
The Q4 may be too high in pitch but is worth testing without buying it. I have one you can test for $45 without having to buy it. Ultimately Labbing that prop will make it run the best it can too.
I think the correctly Labbed 26 LH Bravo 1 is the best selection.
