Is my pick up causing slip? pics attached.

I have my intercooler pick up kicking water left and right. I've noticed before how it hangs up under the K plane, probably not helping me any. But more importantly it's kicking water the other way, right into the downward swing of the prop.

You can see in the pics, the clear line where the pick up is splitting the water. You can also see where is dirty water on one side and clean on the other.

Thanks for looking!

28 Nordic Heat, -2 Imco, 28P with 1.36 gears. 540 EFI with Vortech. I see north of 85 with it, these pics are about 40ish. My slip numbers are above 20%. 88 best I've seen.

RH rotation?? Your logic seems good if RH. IMO.. It could be disturbing water on the reentry of the prop.. if it were LH, left hand it would be getting clean ( undisturbed) water. Other question is how low is your pickup.. I.e. how deep is it disturbing the water?

Just to be clear, I'm talking about transom intercooler pick up. it's shaved as much as possible before intake temps went up. grinding the hull for flush mount could be winter project.

my shower pick up is as high as I can get it to prevent affecting prop but who knows..

prop spins clockwise looking at it from this angle, not sure if that's considered left or right. pretty sure it's right.

Dude! How the hell did you get the pictures? LOL

We are on same page.. if the IC pickup is airating the water as the prop bits down RH or clockwise, it could cause additional slip. The drive showers are behind the prop and since your running a high X , I wouldn't thing that's causing anything.. barely in water as your cav plate prob runs out the water at speed.

Another example.. adding a box puts the drive further back from the boat which is where cleaner water is..again-cleaner meaning= less disturbed by the hull. Cleaner water, better bite.. just a theory anyway, but sounds right in my head.

As Keith mentioned.. I was also curions how you took the pics!!!

How long is the broomstick? Nice view

Yes it could.

Next, how deep is the drive shower pick up?

Yes, the IC pick up can definitely cause aeration to the prop. A left hand rotation will help. The general rule of thumb is locating the pic up 12-14" from the center line of the drive. This of course depends upon how big and how deep the pick up is, and how fast the boat is going.
