32 fever prop info
Took 25p mirage props off 32 fever non step with stock 454 power.Replaced with 27p mirage props.Did it to get my RPM's down. Now I can spin them at 5100 WOT and that is fine.Gained speed and did not really loose anything (OR SO I THOUGHT) But now it seems when running in flat water I don't get the bow lift I got out of the 25's when trimming out .Both sets were standard and stock . Any thoughts or is it just me. JOHN SR

My 25p m+ did the same thing over the 23p m+
Your props may need to have a lil cup added and maybe labbed. I just put 24b1s on mine, but still testing. Definitely don't like spinning IN.. too loose when crossing wakes. |
Agreed Not spinning in.Hate to spend that money on cupping and it does not fix the problem.Guess I should of kept the 25's but I sold them.Might try bravo 4 blades I can borrow a set of 26's I think. JOHN SR

Higher pitches create a little more stern lift.
Labbing the 27's correctly will definitely increase bow lift. Let us know if we can help. Brett |
Brett, what can be done as far as labbing these and possibly adding some cup to them ? Or would I just be better off with a 26 bravo ? The boat runs well at cruise, ruffly 47-49 mph half tank and 3300 ish rpms. I don't want to put alot of money into a lab if I can get some 4 blades and get the same cruising results. Naturally I figure the 4 blade will hurt some top end but will help in lifting the bow, maybe even more mph at cruise. If these wouldn't stern lift as they do, these would be perfect. Thanks

a 26 b will not get you a better cruise.. Mittens and I (342 and 33 ol) were running 26b1 and 25p m+ getting the same cruise speeds.. 3500 at 50... So that supports the many posts that b1 are +1" higher than marked.
You might need 28b1s... should only loose 100 rpms compared to the 27p m='s if any |
4 blade props give more stern lift than 3 blade props. This personality is amplified at WOT.
However, in most cases, 4 blades of the same pitch (+/-) 1 inch will have better cruise and less top speed. Why not test some props through our test program. We can add rake to your 3 blades without Labbing the prop. This may drop the rpm by about 100. Brett |
Hmmm, I was always under the impression they also create more bow lift then a 3 blade also. I do not think that these stock 54's could swing 28 4 blades. Maybe it is just me in thinking that the boat lays down to much, but it seems to be on par with the speed you guys are cruising at. The boat feels just comfortable with the drives set at 4 on the indicators, but to run WOT they need to be pulled out more to get the ( not nose diving affect). Maybe I should seek a set of mirage plus props rather then having these worked ?

The 27's are less diameter than the 25's. Consequently, you lose some leverage and bow lift. Also, the reduced rpm increases the torque loading on the drive train and props. This will exacerbate the lift on the 27's. If your looking for better cruise, than go with a bow lifting 4 blade that turn 5100-5200 rpm, if that is where the engines want to be.

Huh? not sure what this means. |
What he is saying is the 27 prop is smaller in diameter then the 25?. I essentially do not want to turn these things at 5100, they are just stock 54's. I thought that adding the 27's would get me below that. Again I have picked up all over the board as far as cruise, all goes but would like or at least think the boat needs a little more lift. As per Fountain this boat came stock with 25's, which in my case was def def not enough wheel. So would a cup in these or rake increase the bow lift ? Here is a vid( don't have to watch the entire thing) As you can see the boat comes up on plane in no time, I am being very light on it never brought the tachs above 3500. Also this is with the TABS all the way out. Only drives down. As I said I have to keep the drives at about 4 @ 32-3500 to feel like the boat is almost riding normal, atleast to me, still feels kinda nosed over. Based on my reading everyone says that is too much trim for even WOT running, but I can pull the drives up even higher for WOT, only then it feels like it is trying to hang the bow. Also exp zero blow out..

Yes Mirage props change diameter with the pitch increments. My point was the theory mentioned doesn't make sense to me. The additional pitch can cause a extremely small amount of stern lift but the diameter reduction neutralizes that.
Anyway, adding rake via cup and a tip bend will give you more responsive trim. Brett |
