bajahammer21 10-16-2013 06:34 PM

the boat was a repo when i bought it from the bank so i didnt get a cam card with it or anything im not sure if the ecm was remapped for the cam or not it has a ton of low to mid though doesnt seem like i have that same wicked powerband on topend maybe a cam swap??? ive built alot of drag motors but i know marine is different any ideas on a decent cam?? thanks

A proper pitch 3 blade lab finished might get you Afew mph. Maybe not 5 but def 3 I feel. The Baja is going to have a deep X dim and the 3 with some cup would carry the bow better then an untouched bravo 4 blade. Your midrange will suffer some especially if you work the 3 blade prop for absolute top speed. Also planing time will be longer. If you can spin a 24 4 blade to the max wot range of your motor then a 25 3 blade would keep you about the same rpm I believe. Hopefully Bret or Brad will chime in

And if it's a mostly stock 454mag mpi I don't know that you should spin it much more than 52-5400 rpm. Rev limiter stock is 5200??

im up for any suggestions plus the prop that's on it isn't in the best shape as it is

Nailit meant Bob Madara at Marine Kinetics is the cam man.

I recently loaned my heavily worked M+ 23 to a Baja brother in Ky. He was spinning the stock M+ 23 4900 at 60. He ran my wheel 67 GPS at 5000. Almost identical 272/502 boats. The improvements aren't just top end numbers, it's across the board. He sent it to Brett, who did his computer aided measurement "MRI". Highly tuned prop can make a big difference. Bblades "knows alittle"

Cool thanks I'm going to look into getting my prop worked on I might go with a different cam as well
