tekkin out on props (newbie)

so
I have got this zt28 checkmate
with a 496 mag HO
normal bravo outdrive
and a uh,...
24pitch four blade bravo1 merc pro-pellor

I hit nearly 70 mph often on nice flat water

what do you,
my new friends, think I ought to look for in a 3 blade spinner?

What rpm at WOT and exactly what GPS speed????

Dave M 12-17-2013 09:43 AM

You want to prop that motor for 5000 RPMs. I would think a bravo 1 prop would be a good choice for that boat. Guys in the Checkmate section might be able to get more specific with props.

South Amboy huh? I grew up in Sayreville.

You can actually run that engine t 5100 all day long.
Correctly worked Mirage Plus props are tough to beat as far as 3 blade props on you hull.
If you would like to call us we can give you some options.

i suppose i'll have to wait til spring before i
bust out the gps and weigh it against the Tach

being new to this it is hard to look at anything other than the 'road ahead'
i have yet to actually pin the throttle all the way for more than mere moments

but i assume for now that i had it slightly below 5000rpm @ almost 70mph
with the speedometer that is not gps

Welcome to the forum tuakchucuo.

We get "more" than specific with propellers in this forum.

I loved my old Checkmate. It ran fantastic with a Bravo 1 propeller but it needed to be reduced to 14.5" to make it do what the boat wanted.
Each and every identical boat needs to be propped specific to its personality. Standard Bravo 1 props are not the best stock option.

DAVE M, I met Glenn and Craig on the kill van kull mere month n a half ago.
Red Scarab panther, I followed them to their Raritan river ramp,
pretty sure Glenn said he lived in that town

bblades,... is 14.5" the diameter of said prop?

KitePool 12-18-2013 06:10 PM

bbladesprops 12-18-2013 08:09 PM

There is a lot of good info on BBlades website and a slip calculator as well.
