Prop for cigarette 28
 

Hello guys.
Im from Sweden and have 28foot cigarette.
Its a N/A 502cbb dynoed to 460hp at 4600 and 440 at 5000rpm.
the weight is accord. to the old owner around 4850lbs and it has a standard Bravo1 drive.
Best i have done is 50knots (57mph) with a Rev4 21pitch prop. at 5000rpm.

Is this normal? should i be happy with that speed considering hp/weight/boat?

Should i try some other prop? was thinking about bravo1 with 22 pitch?

Your speed is a little off if you actually have 460HP.
However, you are currently under propped at 5000 rpm.
A Labbed 24 Bravo 1 will get you into the 60's but still a little low from what the potential should be.

Yes im sure i have 460hp, dynoed in superflow bench.

Tried a 22 Bravo1 yesterday, did only get 46knots and a lot o slip, the boat would not even go up in plane without slip..

The people i spoke to said that going up to a 24pitch bravo1 would not help, and i still would have slip, and i need another prop series with more lift like powertec?

I have a 21pitch rev4 today and its working very well besides i think i have potenial of going faster and it almots rpms out at 5100rpm.
wouldent the best be to have a prop thats limit the boat to around 4600-4700rpm? where max hp is?

start to think of a rev4 23p, would that be a good match, looks to me like it would drop rpm 3-400rpms?

strange that the Bravo1 did not work on my boat. Tought that it was developed for a pretty much standard v-deck..

I agree the Bravo 1 shouldn't have done what it did. Could it have been repaired or adjusted ever in its life?
Try a Rev 23 if you can. We have test props if it will help.
Yes as I stated above you should be in the 4600 rpm range and a correctly Labbed 24 would get you there.

The Bravo 1 i tried was new..

As i said im not sure Bravo is the right series as it slipped a lot, the rev4 i have now works very good otherwise its to small..
so maybe i should go for a rev4 23p or even a labbed 25?

Any other suggestion of propps?

I'm pretty sure the 28 Cig was originally a 60mph boat with twin 330's. I would think you should be at 65-67 mph with 450hp motors... There are many variables to consider such as drive X dimension that could be off. I have a 27 Magnum that I restored with Bravo drives and a higher x-dim than the original TRS drives. This is essentially the same hull. I have found a high amount of slip (18-20%) with Bravo 1 4 blade props. I have tried 5 blade Maximus props with better results (13-15%) but I have closer to 550 hp per side. Hope this helps.
