3 white plastic pieces
Hi can someone tell what the 3 little white cone type pieces that are on my prop where the exhaust goes through? I cant seem to find an answer.

Can you post a picture?
|
exhaust flappers?

Simple, you have a Michigan wheel stainless steel prop and your 3 white cone shape plugs are for the vent holes in the prop. You can completely plug the prop vent holes with them or pull them out to see if it makes a difference in planning your boat. I have them as well when I sold Michigan props back when they were real popular for the family rec boat crowd.

I would say vent plugs too. If you have thru drive exhaust you can use them to loosen the prop by allowing exhaust bubbles past the blades when getting in plane. http://www.mercurymarine.com/propell...hnologies/pvs/

Michigan Wheel S.S. Rapture and Apollo Props had the vent holes that those white cone shape plugs were used to plug them completely if needed. They claimed better hole shot. Same deal as Mercury PVS design / plugs but Merc had 100 % closed plugs various semi closed plugs to fine tune their prop.
Good link you posted as I just looked at it after the fact here. sorry for the double info about Merc props. |
Thanks guys. That was my assumption. We don't carry or deal with Mich wheel products.

Brett I do not blame you as the Rapture was more of an entry level prop especially currently and the Apollo S.S. prop was very low quality.

BUP,
That's what I love about this forum, everybody can learn from it. We have repaired many MW props over the years but haven't carried the line for various reasons. Those guys basically went bankrupt 5 years ago. They down sized to nothing and in the Nth hour some one put a few bucks back into the company and they have been walking a tight rope since. I think it is great. There is plenty of room for them to build props for the family truckster. If they can offer a few jobs for the folks in MI, that's kick a$$! Brett |
