Prop Venting, Does it work with no exhaust going through the hub?

Installed new motor in my boat and had to pitch down severely to get this cammed up beast on plane. My question is, does opening vent holes on a prop have an any effect without exhaust blowing through the prop? My exhaust is 100% through hull.

It can help somewhat but not like exhaust running through them. There is such a strong vacuum any trapped ambient air or any leaks will pull air hard.
We can also discuss the diffuser ring depending on the casting.
