High Altitude Prop Change Questions
Just bought a new to me 2006 Formula Fastech 292 with 6.2 twins, 1:65 Bravo1 drives running 28P props. Lakes up here in Utah are around 5000 feet plus in elevation. I am having some trouble getting on plane and have learned that the 292 takes a lot of practice after discussions with other 292 members. I contacted Formula for advice and their Propulsion Engineers got back to me and said this boat should use 24Ps as that's how they are shipped new to high altitude Formula dealers with the 292 Fastech.
Once I finally figured out how to get the 292 on plane I achieved a 58mph top speed on the GPS speedo and could only pull a maximum of 4400 RPM. So my question is changing from 28Ps to 24Ps will that help me out of the hole to get on plane, increase my top speed and help me get to 5000 RPM? Thanks in Advance for the Advice, Ted |
Smaller prop means more RPM for sure. It's definitely worth a try. BBlades has a loaner program you can try out some 24s at low cost.
I don't miss being at altitude! Best speed mod I ever had was leaving Colorado for sea level :) |

Just found a used set of 24Ps, will give them a good run.
Thanks' for the advice |
We only charge $45 to test a set of propellers and you do not have to buy anything.
