Velocity 280 prop

Still working out some bugs with the new setup in the Velocity 280. 496 stroker, 601hp and 605ft/lbs. I'm running a 28p bravo1 4 blade right now, runs 76mph on gps at 5500-5600 rpm. can still get up on a plane with 7 ppl on the boat as i found out last weekend. any insight as to where i'd end up if i put on a 30p? any specific prop anyone could suggest for this boat specifically? 5 blade maybe?

Nice talking to you today.
Let me know how the rest of the testing goes and if we should send out some test propellers.

If your running a true 28P stock Bravo @ 5500-5600 rpm, a New Bravo FS 30P pro finish as they come from factory, should turn 5400-5500 and get you 79-80mph with nearly same acceleration and with less trim input.
If you want 5600-5700 rpm with as much if not more acceleration get a 29P, Teaque Marine has them on sale.

High slip is not good, but your out drive will last longer, if you can get on plane good and boat handles good, all will last longer.

I gained 4-5 mph going from a 30P stock to a 31P & 32P Bravo FS, these props have more blade rake, exhaust hub cut down, which should help prevent lifting rear of the boat at high speed and these props get on plane very well and a medium finish, so they hold up to the horse power without throwing a blade as some thin bladed lab props sometimes do through hard use.

Just my 2 cents and what's worked for me !
Running 96mph with stock Bravo One gear case on 2 GPS units, now ready for SC Imco lower ,Bravo One lower is at its max and ready to blow out.

Thx for the info. It's good to know others have kept the stock bravo one outdrives in one piece if treated right. I try to baby mine

You can keep them going ,last boat was 500+ HP on stock Bravo gear case, but this one is a completely redone Max Marine Worx unit.

What's your drive height? I'm running the same setup on my 280 and at 75 I am about 5000 rpm. I am running a Hydro-motive nose cone which could be improving the hydro-dynamics.
