1987 Scarab 26' excel PROP HELP!!!
I have a 1987 Scarab Excel with a 365 hp 454 and bravo drive.
I threw a labbed 26 pitch 4 blade on just to get on the water, however I could only get the boat to 3800 rpm before trimming up blows out the prop. SO, I tried a 23 pitch 3 blade, and now I get about 4000 rpm, but anymore trim and same thing, throws a small rooster and blows out..... The 4 blade felt faster in the 300-3300 rpm than the 3 blade at 4000, I got 42 MPH before the blow out starts... What are you guys running on similar boats??? Also is it possible that when the boat was converted from Alpha to Bravo, it changed the X dimension to where I'm screwed?? I don't want to keep buying props for no reason! Thank you in advance! |
007joe,
Call us. We can offer some straight advice and potential test propellers. Brett |
Joe, did you have any luck? We have a 26' Profile with just the 330hp 454 and a Bravo 1 and experiance the exact same thing you seem to be having. With a 23P 3 blade, I can get good rpm 4500 but have very little trim before the prop blows out. Would love to be able to fine tune it more for differing water conditions.
Take care...........john |
