School me on props please...
I have a 1990 Baja 235 DVX. This weekend the best I could get was 53 on gps at 4500 rpm. I have a Mirage Quicksilver 48-13704-23 (14 5/8 x 23). I found an old article that someone sent me on these boats and the stock prop should be 14 1/2 x 23.
I'm okay with the speed but I figured I should get more RPM out of the boat. Also if I trim up very little the prop seems to arrerate. It's also almost impossible to make a sharp turn with the drive trimmed at all. Any suggestions? |
What engine, Drive ratio, fuel amount, how many people on board? Is prop in good shape? anything attached to outdrive? (drive shower, skeg guard ect?)
|
Besides supplying all the info requested, it would be smart to try a know stock untouched unrepaired 23 Mirage +.
We have them for testing if you desire. Brett |

spazz,
Even propellers that look like new may have been repaired. Repairing propellers to their original state requires knowledge of that specific propeller line. Many repaired propellers do not perform as well as they should or like new if the technician doing the repair is inexperienced in that propeller family. I bring this up because a stock Mirage by QS should not have a 19% slip on 1990 Baja with a stock "X" dimension. This is what you have. Something else is going on with your set up. This is why I would consider testing a prop or two prior to purchasing. We can help you with a variety of testing and potential set options as well as some trouble shooting information. Brett |
Thanks Brett. I will get in touch with you.
