1992 35 Fountian props?

Have a buddy who just bought a 35 fountain ( non step hull). Has twin 454s that are stock except headers with 1.5 bravo outdrives. What pitch prop should he be running? I think before it was sold someone switched the props because they are 19 pitch and I though 24 or 25 but I don’t want to give wrong info and waste his money. Thanks in advance!

Has he ran the boat? What speed at what rpm? He can call fountain and get the original test report for his hull which will have that info. My single step 35 with 502 mags came with 27 4 blades. For that boat either at 330 or 365 I would guess 23-24 pitch would be a good start.

Are you sure they are 454's or 502's? The base package usually came with Quicksilver 25's with a satin finish that Fountain did a little modification to. They usually would put a rough edge on the trailing part of the blade to get a little better bite. Try a set of Mirage 1 25's should do the trick or a set of 26 or 24 Bravo 1's, boat will ride more level use less trim and very little tab if any except in the snotty stuff. If you can find a set of Hydromotives 4 blades, that might be the ticket. Should give you the same as B1's plus maybe a little more on the top end. One last thing, if that setup does not have the external hydraulic steering, save up some cash over the winter and add it in the boat. You will definitely notice a HUGE improvement to the handling and response vs the dual cable , hard to turn steering. You will loose the trim on wheel feature, but just add a trim switch to the starboard throttle.

Base line information with any set of stock props will point you in a direction using your ultimate goal.
Call us with those baseline numbers and we can get right to the correct answer. There are more than one option and we have propped dozens of these hull over the last 30 years.
