Prop help!!!

So i just rigged a Sunsation 288 MCOB with a 525EFI over the winter... I bought a new 29P 4 blade from Augie at Cutting Edge. Prop looks amazing but doesn't perform amazing. It blows out almost instantly when trying to get on plane, no matter how I throttle it, and the prop slip is terrible at speed. I put the stock 26P Bravo 1 prop on over the weekend and the boat is totally different. no more blow out, no more prop slip... I'm just not seeing the speed I should with a 288 with a 525EFI. Got about 72 mph on my gps? Any thoughts? did I purchase the wrong prop? I've read in the Sunsation section on here that guys where running a 29P four blade with the same set up I'm running.... I thought it would be a good starting point. I have called Cutting Edge, see what Augie has to say when he gets back to me. Any advise would be appreciated!

There is a LOT more to boat speed ( increasing IT ) than just adding HP. I have gained more speed from making setup changes than by adding HP.
On a V bottom boat most like the 4 blade Bravo prop.
What was your RPM with the Bravo 26?
that speed sounds pretty good for a 28 ft hull and only 525 HP

What RPMs at 72MPH?

5200RPM. Boat ran 68-70mph with the 496HO in it.

What year 288? I would think you could turn that 26P Bravo more than 5,200 with a healthy 525EFI. Have you checked to make sure your throttle blade is fully open with the stick all the way forward?

It's a 2005
If I trim up for speed I'm hitting the rev limiter at 73-74MPH
I guess what has me confused the most is how the 29P Cutting Edge prop behaved. It just won't hook

some props just like to slip until you really get moving. we tried a spinelli on a 288 and it hated the prop. the prop was for a 25 talon but it was in the shop and we gave it a shot. couldnt hardly get on plane, slipped almost all of the time. but if you watched gps it would keep going faster and faster even though the rpms were the same. it possibly could have put up a good number but the rest of the characteristics were to awful to cruise around on.

OK, so an '05 should be a full single-step hull, not just the ventilated chine. I think it may also have a small notch at the transom? Cannot remember. Anyways, so you have the trim tucked somewhat at 72 MPH @ 5,200 RPM whereas when you trim it out (but not blowing out the prop, correct?) you are hard on the rev limiter at 74 MPH @ 5,500 - 5,550 RPM? Sounds to me like you can easily pull a 28p Bravo I and go from there.

Some labbed props do this. Sucks. Call them and say it sucks......like driving a rear wheel with no traction control on ice.
