21" Revolution 4 vs Mirage Plus - what to expect?

I'm running a 21" Rev 4 on my 252 Islander, tops out at about 52 mph but damn it bites and pulls HARD! My other boat has a Mirage Plus in 21", any ideas what to expect if I swap the props? My other boat is a Baja 208 Islander with a 454, the 252 has basically the same engine though fuel injected vs carbureted.

Thanks!

The Rev4 was superior to the M+ on my 272 Islander in every way.

Thanks for the info based on your real experience.

The helm on the Islander is a good deal more forward than the cuddy models and really takes a lot of cup to hold the bow out of the water. I tried the stock M+ and a labbed M+ but my 272 really likes that extra blade to help it out of the water. I lost zero top speed with the Rev4.

My question would be what rpm are you running with the 21" Rev 4 at WOT? Are you near or at peak hp / rev limiter?

I like the Rev 4 but it is a lot of prop (blade surface area) and needs hp/tq to spin it. From my personal experience I run a Rev 4 in 2" less pitch than a 3 blade. Said another way, if a 21" 3 blade (i.e Mirage) is running at optimum rpm then switching to a Rev 4 I'd use a 19" pitch model. My personal preference is to run a Rev 4 slightly under pitched. It will pull like a freight train and trims very well. The long barrel helps a lot with trim.

I've only had the 252 for a month or so and only 3 days on the water, so...still need to play with trim and tabs, etc. I've not run it at WOT...more like around 4400 rpm and only for short bursts as I had the bimini up and didn't want to stress it.

Heading back to the lake in a few days and will play around a lot more with all the settings. Previous owner said he'd only seen 54 mph on GPS.

You have a great boat that’s a ton of fun. Isn’t the rev limiter on that engine over 5k? If that’s the case then you’re leaving a huge chunk of power on the table. You may actually go faster with a smaller prop.
