Prop slip help

1996 31 Fountain open / 2005 250 Pro xs 1.75 gears
motors are are at highest setting.
Bravo 1 FS 26p
65mph @ 6k rpm shows 23% slip!

How can I reduce slip?

Try dropping your engines 1" at a time and take recordings.

Max 5 props, lower them 1 hole, move weight towards the back of the boat.

Ken from Prop Gods emailed me and said that for the FS it isn’t abnormal for 23% slip because they have less cup than a standard Bravo. Wondering if having cup added would reduce slip and bring up speed.

people get hung up on slip and if the boat is performing well I wouldn't worry about it. Want to reduce your slip put a pair of box stock Maximus on there, slip will go way down but I doubt the performance would be better.

You can use it to compare one set of props to another but what is more important is how did they get the boat in plane, what kind of economy do you see at typical cruise, and is the top end more or less where it should be.

Cruise was 47mph at 4K rpms. Didn’t get to run long because the mpr blew. Put a new relay and now it won’t stay running. Starts just for 1sec. then shuts off. Fuel pump does turn on

UPDATE: Just got it back from the shop. The no start was due to broken reed in the air compressor.

Got to run her again. 67mph @ 5600 3/4 fuel
still need to get the rpm’s up

Did you move your engine down 1" to acheive the new numbers? That is now 15% slip which is a lot better. I don't think you would get much lower than 10-12% with your setup, so you are pretty close. If you are happy with this setup I would look to drop down to a 25 pitch bravo and get a little more RPM. If cost isn't too much of a concern than I would just get a labbed 26 pitch fs and call it a day.
