24 outlaw prop

I have a 1994 outlaw 24 that I bought a few weeks ago with a hp500 502ci carb engine. It has a RH bravo 26p 4 blade on it. The other night I ran it and 4700-4800 rpm was max I could get out of it. It also takes 3k rpms for 10-15 seconds to get the boat to plane out too. Once on plane it seems to do well cruising at 3k rpms. If it gets below 2700rpms it will come off of plane. I can't verify speeds at this time. Gauge wasn't working and didn't GPS anything. I have read several talking at 23p mirage and mirage plus but most everyone I see has 454 with 380ish hp. I ran a 24 bravo labbed on a 550hp checkmate 253 years ago that did great "completely different boat I know". Would the 23p still be better for my set up. Also I'm sure it doesn't help I don't have any speeds to go with it.

My bet is you will be much happier with a 23p prop. See if you can borrow one to try.

I think you have some HP being left on the table based on your carb thread.
I had a 93 24 Outlaw with 420hp. I could spin a 23 Mirage Plus to 5400rpms and a 24 Bravo1 to 5100rpms.
The Mirage Plus was slow to plane out but faster WOT by about 3mph at 64mph. The Bravo1 planed quickly and was an all around better prop.

Podunk,

I’m no prop guru, but this makes a whole lot of sense. Try a Bravo 24P. After you’ve assured you’re getting all the HP you can to the prop shaft, of course.

Thanks. Brad.
