Mighta got burned on a pair of ebay props...
Not sure what to do here.
The old saying goes: "If its too good to be true, it probably is." Found this set of pretty looking Volvo Penta F7's for $900 and they just arrived today. There are obvious hammer marks in one blade, but appears to be old and prior to polishing. The biggest issue I see is.. the hubs dont appear to be pressed on completely. The props dont rub on anything but the forward prop is noticably further back from the drive than the F6's I removed. Obviously none of this stuff was pictured or mentioned in the Ebay ad. Is this deliberate... and to allow for the pitch ? or are the hubs coming out of the props ? Both appear to be not fully seated into the props. Need some OSO wisdom here. Thanks in advance. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8d3809cf46.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fa246ae960.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...3bb1135e4c.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6896a43fb0.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4fa76cc2ad.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c87eac228d.jpg |
The hub is probably coming loose. Had it happen on one of my forward E-4's. It would move forward and back under load, and started rubbing each other. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, as it didnt really affect performance much. They can be re-hubbed. I had mine done

Even if I need to put a few hundred $$$ into them I am still ahead. Pricing new ones they are $1800-$1900. New hubs are $159/ea |
