Wrong Prop
Hello all!
I just joined this forum today. I'm an avid boater for 30+ years. I purchased a beautiful 95 hour, 2016, 26' Baha Outlaw, 8.2 Mag Ho motor. It has a 22P Bravo 1, 4 blade prop on it. I'm only getting 58-59 mph top end at 5900-6000 RPM. 1/2 tank of gas, trims up along with trim tabs up. I'm thinking that the prop should be at least a labed 23P-4 blade to get more top end. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you! |
You're definately underpropped. Maybe a 24" or 26" bravo or maybe a 25" rev4 woud be better suited? That 22" is twisting that stock motor pretty hard.

why is the engine spinning those rev's ? I would of thought the limiter would be set around 5100 5200
|
No way rpms are that high. Like stated rev limiter is 5100-5200.
You need to get an actual rpm. You might be propped correctly now. |
Thanks guys for the replies. I went into G.S, where I bought the boat today, and they told me that I had at least 500 more RPM's to go, & everyone is running a Mirage Plus 23P 3 blade. There was an identical boat in there running with the same.
He also suggested a Bravo 1, 21P 4-blade. |
Mercury Marine stats 4600 - 5000 WOT......and your boat is a BAJA not a BAHA............:D

doing the math with that 22p and 59mpph engine is turning about 4900

For comparison, I have a stock 7.4 MPI turning a 21" Revolution 4 prop @4400 - 4500, GPS speed around 54 mph.
|
The stock Faria tach is subject to being in error...give it a good whack with a knuckle and see if it drops down.
|
A 22 Bravo 1 spins about the same rpm as a 23 Mirage Plus. The 22 Bravo 1 will be a better all around prop, but the 23 Mirage Plus will be a few mph faster on the top end.
