Looking for prop size suggestions for 23 Nova.
Hello everyone. After 3 years of headaches and frustration I finally got my 23 Nova on the water. However I think I need a larger prop. I'm currently running a gen IV built 496 bbc with a Laser 14.5 23p prop on a bravo 1. Actual HP unknown. Cam makes power to 5400rpm, I can get that rpm with very little trim in the drive and just over 3/4 throttle. So far I have gone 64 on gps. The boat planes out very very easy with very little throttle input and can cruise as low as 2800rpm. I'm not really sure at what prop size to start with. I would like my redline to be at 5000. Here is a list of what the motor has for parts.
Gen IV 454 block Eagle steel crank and H-beam rods internally balanced, PB harmonic balancer, Icon forged pistons comp, 8.75 to 1, Comp cams retro roller cam. XM270, Comp cams roller tip rockers 1.72, Comp cams valve spring, 10* locks and retainers, Cloyes billet timing chain with Torrington bearings, Howard's cams custom length push rods, Brodix 270 Race Rite oval ports, Arp head and rod bolts ARP main studs, Jegs Airgap intake, Proform 750 carb, Pertronix Distributor and coil, Hardin Marine water crossover with bypass Any suggestions are welcome and thank you for taking the time to read this. |
I have a 26 nova 2 spyder with very very similar engine setup. I too am looking for the correct prop for it as well.
so far ive tried 21p mirage 3 blade, 23p cleaver 3 blade, 24p bravo 1 4 blade, and 25p 3 blade. So far i personally like the 24p 4 blade the most. Still on the hunt for the best prop. I lost 3mph with the 25p 3 blade over the 24p 4 blade |
Have a 25p Hydromotive Q4 pristine condition that is not needed.
