24 baja prop

Need some input on which prop to start with this year.. Boat is a 1994 24 outlaw. I swapped the big block out with a cammed 6.0 LSx engine so alot of weight has been removed from the stern of the boat. This year the engine around 525-550hp. I didnt know till the end of the season my tach was 200rpm off. I ran a left hand 26p bravo prop. It came with the boat is why I ran it. It only turned 4800 rpm and gps at 62 mph. Definitely needed smaller prop but did good for the time being. I tried a 25p 3 blade and 23p 3 blade last year and the kept blowing out. My boat does not seem to like a 3 blade at all. Prop depth is 7". What is a good prop to start with this year since my boat has a low x dimension but is also alot lighter on stern from the swap? I'm not running it with the 26p left hand prop with year on the new engine.
Also with the 26p 4 blade if I trimmed it up much at wot, it would blow out.

23 Mirage Plus. Pretty standard prop to 24 Outlaws. Its what I ran on mine with about 420hp and spun to 5400 at about 65mph.

I'm not sure if it's because the boat is 640ish pounds less on the stern but it does not do well with 3 blade prop.

I would think now being bow heavy the 3 blade would be better. And just because it blows out with too much trim doesn't mean it's bad. Just means the boat doesn't need that much trim. I've got a Baja '87 Sport 220. Much lighter than yours I think. Out drive raised 2" from factory. With a 26 Bravo it comes out of the hole like a bear. Too much trim and it loses speed. With a 27 Mirage Plus it's a chore to get on plane because it blows out easily, which really surprised me, but on top end with the right trim it's faster, too much trim it slows down, though it never really let's go. I can lift the bow sky high with it. It also has considerably less torque steer than the Bravo.
Not knowing which props you tried you may need a cupped three blade instead of one with no cup. Or have the Bravo worked to provide more bow lift as they are designed for stern lift.
These are me experiences and opinions. Others may differ.
Don't hesitate to call Mercury Racing for advice. If anyone can steer you right it's them.

Not sure how you figure you lost 640lbs??? There is a LOT of difference between different models of 3 blade props. Did you actually try a Mirage Plus??? I ran a labbed 23 Mirage Plus and it NEVER blew out. I'm not sure how you can be blowing out any prop with the deep X on the older 24 Outlaws.
Next prop to try is a Bravo 24. It was a better all around prop, but I lost about 3-4 mph top end.

What rpm are you trying to spin??? I would think close to 6000 with the LS engine??

I took the weight of the ls then the weight of the big block and subtracted the two numbers lol and no didn't try a mirage plus. I'll try one to see. Yes around 5800-6000 rpms.

I think your math is off lol

My LS376/485 complete with 7,5 l oil, coolant, all aggregates, Kodiak exhaust, heat exchangers, 30 lbs flywheel and ZF 63A, so ready to install weighs 637 lbs.
The LSX probably isn't much heavier.

BBC is around 900lbs dressed and you should be around 650lbs

I don't think that's quite the case.
lsx is lighter and bigg block is heavier.
My engine weighs 637 lbs with the ZF63A, but this transmission weighs just over 100 lbs. I weighed everything.
The weight of the big block is said to be just over 1,100 lbs, there is published weight with drive https://www.marinesouth.co.nz/engine...mag-ho-430-hp/

If the LSX weighs around 550 lbs and the BB weighs around 1100 lbs, the difference is 550 lbs.

Where am I wrong?
