88 Seebold Silver Eagle 265 restoration thread!
 

I wanted to throw up a thread of my newly acquired baby I bought mid summer. I got it for a song and had to have it once I saw pics of it in the water. There is limited info on these boats but I love it! It runs like a top, just needs a cosmetic restoration which I plan on doing this winter. Here's some pics of the thing when I got it. I dont have any pics of the engine compartment but it was redone years ago and had added supports glassed in and is solid as a rock. Its got a single 330 horse 454 and a bravo with a nose cone (overkill for a 55mph boat)

I bought it knowing the floor was soft so I knew I was at least putting a floor in it and once I had it all out and got the tank out I found the stringers are rotted and the bottom of the engine compartment bulkhead is rotted. Aint gonna stop me!

I got a off shore control for cheap so I blew it apart and refinished it and made it look a little flashier/newer

I'll keep posting pics as the restoration comes along. I'm planning on repainting it and switching out the light blue parts to silver to modernize it a bit. I'm also going to repaint the dash white, do the gauge panel blue and run some Stainless Steel Hardin Marine gauges and install grey carpets. I'm gonna try to "un 80's" this boat as much as I can.

Awesome stuff my friend. Always been a fan of those boats but never even seen a 26' in person. Don't think there were many built.
You will be rewarded for your effort when you pull into any ramp/harbor USA and know you have the only one there.

Thanks! I haven't made any progress on her and probably won't til after January. Ill start really gettin into her once my shops new body shop goes up. Then ill be able to back her in and get to replacing the stringers and floor. After that she's gettin painted up!

I had the same boat about 5 yrs ago for about a year...had a nice hull and was made strong...though the gas tank at the seem went towards the back starboard side...tried to cold weld it but didnt hold after 3 yrs (new owner informed me). Great history on The Seebold's too.

What speed did ya get out of it? I love this boat! Cant wait til shes back in the water in the spring!

I had a rebuilt motor with stainless exhaust pushing about 430hp. Boat ran in mid 60's...I would add the trim switch in the keikafer controls throttle while you have it apart. A really is a nice feature when you can trim while running hard. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BAJA-FORMULA...a0fbcc&vxp=mtr about 31.00 and you will need the diodes at radioshack...txt me and ill send you the url for them,, need 4...about another 3.00. the plastic handles round part comes out and you make a hole for the wire (wrap the wire too after you purchase)...

I was planning on putting a trim switch right in front of the control so when full throttle I can have my hand on the throttle and put a finger forward and run the switch. I may consider your method tho. That would definitely make it easier. My buddy has the switch in front of the control in his 23 Velocity and says its tricky.

They are hard to find - the extension ones...even though some companies have pics, like REX marine and others, but when you call they are out of stock. Good luck though.
