2006 B&H Performance boat Project
 

Hey everyone,
I figured I would start a thread on the boat I Just picked up last week.
A little back story: I started a restoration on a 1984 Checkmate Convicor 25' I picked up a 454 block with 502 heads off Craigslist, Since that time I have turned it into a 496 stroker with 10:01 compression eagle crank eagle rods and SRP pistons, i did a internal balance on the motor as well. The heads I had machined for a larger intake and exhaust as well.
the Convicor needed new floors and interior, while it was sitting at the fiberglass shop I cam across my new Jem. 2006 30' B&H performance boat. that Night after work I drove from Las Vegas to Phoenix to pick it up, I was back home just in time to go to work again. the price of the boat was amazing.

the gimbal is a bravo one model year 1988 to 1990 I am pulling it out since I have purchased a newer gimbal and drive. so the gimbal and back plate and pump are for sale.

yeah thats what i was thinking when i first went and looked at it It is a really tall boat as well which i think makes it look shorter my 25' looks longer than this one in photos.
its a mid cabin open bow from manufacture they say its a 2,500. extra cost when new. I prefer the open bow in the front makes for fun on the lakes which ill be running it on Havasu and lake mead maybe a few lake Powell trips. im debating putting my 280 K planes on this boat though I have to re gel the maroon in the back so idk if i should put the K planes on. the rest of the boat buffed out gorgeously. I hit it with Unique Big bite then with a foam pad it looks like new.

Blaquebaja they are lightnings I purchased them off craigslist brand new for 1,400.00 the guy bought them for his sonic with twins but the motors were too close together.

No Steve has owned 2 B&H - had a new 30 built about 4 years ago. I know him and Scoop very well. Scoop is / builds out San Berdardino CA and Steve G. is in Oklahoma. Steve hits every darn major event with his boat all over the USA. Steve and Scoop are good friends as well.

Steve really really likes his boat and B&H boats so he most likely will want to keep tabs on your project and put it on his websites. He has a about 3 or 4 websites -

Steve is a dealer for B&H as well.

Ok I have sent Steve a message on Facebook.
I have spoke with scoopy a few times about the boat.
It seems like a decent hull but it sure needs some interior work and wiring love.

What links are broken? They are appearing fine on my computer and phone.

I was able to get the gimbal off today, this week I plan on re packing the wheel bearings and new trailer tires.
At that point I'll be taking the boat to Utah to my parents body shop to re gel coat the maroon.

here is a update I have the boat in Utah and the back end is sanded down and blocked out smooth I just have to make it down there after i get released from the doctor to work again and get my truck fixed after my head on collision.

I got the bucket seats today. I had Cheetah Boats out of Lake Havasu do the work since Bob is a family friend. they turned out great.

I made it back to Utah this weekend and was able to finish the gel on the back of the boat.

hey everyone its been a while since I have posted anything. here is a little update on the boat.
I have picked up the boat from my parents shop in utah and have cut and buffed the maroon. I received my hydraulic steering kit from helm back and have ground out all the bildge paint to put bildge coat in the bildge. I will get some pictures soon.
i have done alot of googling trying to find out everything i can about this boat and I came across this gold mine. pretty nice read and gives me a great idea of what the boat look like and how it preformed new.

how would you ever work on the engine, is that carpet around it ??

Yeah it had carpeted panels that bolted in. I'm not putting that nonsense back in. I am going to make it look clean without hiding the engine with panels.

I was able to make a little progress this weekend. I sanded out the bildge area and re painted it gray and was able to get the gimbal back on.

So I got busy this weekend and finished a few things up. I finally put the new window on and put the steering wheel on. turned out decent.

since I have not posted in a while I thought I would give a update since last. I have taken the boat to Lake Havasu it is sitting in my parents shop I call the place the compound since it is walled in like one.
I am praying I get the chance this weekend to get down there and put the motor in.
