Default Scarab Panther Engine Upgrade - Height Clearance

Hi there,

Toying with getting a Panther and I'm concerned that the engines I would consider installing would be too tall to fit without modification to the lid (which I don't like). Has anybody fit something in the 27-31inch height into one of these? Merc 565 or 600sci?

Thanks,

My standard NA 454 air cleaner bolts hit the bottom of my hatch when the hatch is closed. If you look at the hatch above the engine on the left, you can see the witness of the bolt.

Thanks,
blower motors will not fit under the hatch with carbs and flame arresters. with out mods. I raised the x dimension on mine but the company who did it put it to high and NA motors stick out 3 inches past the 2 inches i already raised the hatch. unfortunately I am dropping everything down a few inches this winter because it was so high it would not get on plane with out spacers in the drives

We had hatches made that allowed for a high X and high-rise intake and large flame arrestor. You could also cut your hatches and allow the blower to be exposed...cool?
