Today we verified the drives are set too high for17" diameter props. While the 6 blades hooked up much better, they still broke loose soon as she starts to nose over. Tried a half dozen times, tabs up and down, turning, up wind, down wind, everything but climbing out on the bow.. It did much better tabs up, but still no love.

Below is video of one attempt. When port side broke loose, she smacked the rev limiter and shook the emergency air shut off valve trigger. That slammed the TB shut, and brought everyone onboard to attention..

The engines and transmissions performed great all day. The dash gauges are all working now, and the the DriveSync really helps out when your trying to watch other instruments like EGT.

However on the last attempt to find a sweet spot where the props wold stay hooked up, we heard a BANG in the drivetrain. First thought was we struck something. But after a close inspection of the props and driveline parts, no sign of damage. So we idled back in and loaded it up on the trailer. That's when I noticed oil seeping out of the port lower unit case. Seems the bang was most likely a gear tooth snapping off.. What ever happened busted the case. Both drives come off tomorrow AM..

Those motors are absolutely STUNNING to look at! I'm just in awe of how much work you've put into this thing and how well it's coming out. Much respect.

What drives are those anyway? I'm sure you posted it somewhere. And why didn't you go with 6's?

I forgot to ask about the Weisman’s, do they make spacers for them? If not I’m sure kid turbo would be up to the task of manufacturing some. Or would some 18” dia be worth sourcing and trying?
