new bolster / interior build

so the boat is the old HART THROB, purpose built no cabin crash bulkhead race boat from the mid 90's and hasn't been in the water since then !

i wanted to do the original owner builder and the boat justice by keeping it in race trim but w/ a little pleasure in the mix.

the engine hatch / compartment was extended approx 21 inches so this is the frame work for the whole cockpit interior dash to fire wall

was talking to a member on here about the original 3 man bolster, 6 1/2' wide 3' deep 2 1/2' tall, it took 2 guys to get it out of the boat and when stood upright like a refrigerator 1 guy could pick it up for a few seconds and thats about all you could do w/ it. it was HEAVY, so it was suggested to make a 2 man bolster f1 style, i liked the idea, ran w/ it and bought some nida core.
6 thanks that was some good advice

bear w/ me getting the pics up

so all the bracing was bedded down w/ 1/2 wide strips of 1 1/2 ounce csm and cabosil
then i started tabbing it together

the whole thing is bolted in place w/ stainless t nuts that are countersunk in and had to glued in prior to the glass

the last pic is a string i pulled across the top so once it was glassed the armrests were flush and not all wggily jiggilly

there is 86 lineal feet of 1708 12 inch tape on the underneath and inside the backrests.
it's strong and feels like you can sit on the armests, the backrests are gonna get filled w/ 4 pound foam once it gets here,
and i think you might be able to stand on it once it's glassed completely.

you can pick it up with 1 hand as of today, feels like 40-45 pounds so far.

in one of the pics you can see where the backrests have to get trimmed down to the original bolster height, and my upholstery guy seems to think the old back rest lightning bolt material will be good to go

i want to give a HUGE thanks to glassdave, who without his direct advice, numerous posts w/ explanations and how to's,
this project of mine would have been a crapshoot at best.
