you may get lucky but for me at least removing the gas tank has been a mother.
There's some good advice, with the rear bulkhead out you might be able to hammer a thin piece of wood or something soft in underneath the bottom of the tank from the rear to slowly get it loosened up.

HA- there is certainly nothing easy about rebuilding these boats. Oh, well, it will be a great 377 when done. I just ordered 35 yards of Ultraleather for the cabin. Once I get all the bulk heads in tabbed back place I can start knocking the cabin out. This is what I am going to be replicating, same colors and basic style, other than I'm going to keep the teak bulkheads.

Wait until I get mine finished before you take me advice. I am confident, I can get that old Scarab cabin looking good.

Do a search on using acetone and its effect on the foam.

I'm assuming it dissolves it, but good call. I'm going to look into that, and test it out. I have plenty of acetone, if it works on that type of foam, it will make life easy.

OK- so the transom is FINALLY ready for the wood. That was lot of work and certainly more time consuming than I thought. Either way, it's done. I also got the port stringer out. It was completely rotten and worthless. I'm certainly glad I dug into this. I bet there is/was 150-200 lbs of extra weight in this boat due to wet wood, let alone the lack of structural integrity.

So just to keep the pictures rolling- here is where I am at as of today.

Nope- I was deep in the dust today as well. At least the worst is now done, or at least I hope it is.

Do you use a grinder to cut the stringer glass? or are there easier tools?
