Well that escalated quickly...97 heat rebuild
Well what started as an engine refresh has now turned into much more on the ole heat...the "simple" engine refresh turned into a total engine build with a bigger supercharger and all....I knew the backseat had some rotten wood but after pulling it out I quickly found out that I had much more rotten wood in the boat than I thought including the floor, ski locker floor, and both ski locker bulkheads...so my dream of getting her back on the water soon is becoming slimmer by the day...
engine...started with a 525 sc bored .030 over JE blower pistons Eagle rods stock crank just cleaned and polished Dart iron eagle heads 525 efi cam..sort of...went with a custom grind but its really close to the 525 efi cam roller lifters and rockers Replacing the tiny 177 with a 256 blower for now Big to do's for this year Replace all the rotten wood rebuild backseat seal and paint bilge area new carpet reassemble interior if I can get them to load I'll post some pics.....wish me luck!! It's funny how that happens. I can certainly relate! Especially when the OCD kicks in.

Also...I need some help sourcing some dark purple carpet for the cockpit..I don't want to do snap in I will be glueing it back down like it was...any ideas??

No Boyne Thunder for you
I do like your motor mounts and hopefully the stringers are solid. Good luck on the repairs and rebuild. |
Yea stringers and transom are solid...luckily it was just from neglect and not drying the carpet out so the moist areas took the brunt of it....I'm hoping to have her on the water early june...as long as the money holds out hahaha

I feel your pain. I thought my Scarab i'm restoring, only need a bulkhead and "possibly a transom. If you looked a my thread in this section, you know it needed FAR more than that. Good luck, and keep at it.

My simple cam swap ended up being a $5k rebuild. That’s a great boat and worthy of love, and I like your engine combo. You should be good for the long haul now. |
Yea thanks!! Feels like a long road to go but hopefully the floor and bulkheads won't be too bad...endeavor...I have been following your thread...you have A LOT more work than me but is gonna be amazing when its done!!
I'm hoping this will be a good build that will last a long time..overall plans include a 6-71 that I have but don't have the scratch to do that this year without selling the 256 which I haven't gotten much interest yet lol Stewart |
