It’s done
I finally have finished and nearly completed the break-in of my new MerCruiser engine. In the end, I now have a 454, 0.030 over, forged rotating assy, file-fit rings, port and polished heads, domed pistons, 290 duration Comp Cam and Edelbrock carb. Appx 10.5:1. I Have not put the engine on a dyno, but I’m guessing I’m south of 500 hp. It seems to run very strong, but with 3000 RPM at 40mph, I think I need to increase the prop again (currently 25P).
I did find a brand new Bravo lower and rebuilt the upper. More to come
