30' Corsa center console

Does anyone have any info on cc corsas? I've only seen 2 others and they were both for sale.

Cauter 05-22-2019 08:29 PM

I guess I'm going to have to talk to myself 10 times so I can post pictures.

Cauter 05-22-2019 08:30 PM

The hull is a 81 and has enough room under the deck to fit a small army.

Cauter 05-22-2019 08:32 PM

I don't believe the bow rail is original. It looks like someone took it off a dusky. There are several small holes that seem to be from a different rail.

Cauter 05-22-2019 08:34 PM

I just picked up a set of 250 verados to replace the original two thirsty fives out back, which actually still run like a top.

Cauter 05-22-2019 08:35 PM

Just over half way to pictures.

Cauter 05-22-2019 08:42 PM

Whoever put the t-top on should be shot.

Cauter 05-22-2019 08:45 PM

I am assuming that I am posting in the right spot. I am definitely restoring this thing. I'm new here so I'm not really sure if I'm in the right place.

SUPERSTITIOUS 05-23-2019 03:18 PM

Looks like a worthy cause. How’s the transom? I love cuddly CC’s. Good luck and keep posting! Welcome to OSO.

Cauter 05-23-2019 03:42 PM

So the story goes the original owner brings the boat to a mechanic to have the transom replaced. The mechanic does the work and the owner doesn't pay. The mechanic puts a lien on the boat and winds up keeping it. The guy I got the boat from traded a pontoon boat to the mechanic for it.

ren3 05-23-2019 07:43 PM

You are probably in for a few surprises that you have not envisioned. Hopefully not, but everything under the floors and the repaired transom needs to be investigated. The hull appears to have been neglected and certainly not restored with much taste. It could be a wonderful surprise though and have survived years of neglect. We get into these with our love of boats and restoring them over riding our mental acuity. I rebuilt my 35' Cigarette into a 28' CC so I have been there! Good luck and I would be pleased to offer any advice that might help if I can. Do definitely recycle the bow rail and t-top. Good luck with your new mistress. She will cost you dearly. Lol.

Cauter 06-12-2019 07:15 PM

On a side note, I referred to my Mercury service manual and the transom is too narrow by 10 inches for complete turning radius. I guess it's time for a bracket.

Moved both engines out 2.5" and still clear lock to lock. Removed the odd 3 hole battery storage area and gained 22" of deck space. Once the splash well is painted it's on to rigging.

hogie roll 07-24-2019 09:07 PM

If those turned up to 335hp that will be fast

The previous owner swore it ran 56 with the 235s out back. I know I'm adding an additional 225 lbs per engine, but I hope 4 stroke supercharged will make up for it.

Cauter 10-08-2019 01:38 PM

So first run in the boat it literally falls to Port at 20 knots so far over I thought I was going to fall out off the boat. Anyone have any idea why this boat is trying to kill me? I have some lenco 12 x 14 tabs I'm going to put on but damn!! Is it because of the dead rise of the hull?

payuppsucker 10-08-2019 02:20 PM

Are the motors counter rotation or both the same?

Cauter 10-08-2019 03:04 PM

Counter

madbouyz 10-12-2019 11:01 AM

I guess we can rule out prop torque then. And I guess it would be dumb to ask if you're accidentally holding any water in the under floor compartments on one side as the boat would have a bad list on that side at rest which you would no doubt already have noticed.
Only other thing I can think of , is the bottom straight ?

Cauter 10-12-2019 11:14 AM

I put a straight edge from the transom going forward and it seems straight as far as not having a hook. Definitely not holding any water. It's extremely light to the point where I can rock it back and forth over a foot like a jon boat by just shifting my weight left to right at the console.

PARASAIL941 10-12-2019 11:27 AM

How does it react with more speed? Are you trimming it out to raise bow? I've had this happen on 25 Hyrosports. They would flop over to one side of the hull at 20-25 mph without positive trim , and just ride like this. Increased speed and trim straightened them right up. Be careful when learning boat , lanyard and jacket just in case. Good luck!!!

Cauter 10-12-2019 11:33 AM

I'm in the process of dialing in props so I'm not sure about WOT, but anything above 25 it's straight as an arrow. I'm hoping the new tabs will help at lower speeds.

This was going to be my next suggestion. Some boats are very prone to this while with others it makes little difference .

Transom replacement

Well the "like new" transom was looking pretty rough when I went to change to bigger trim tabs so it was all stop and time to replace what ever we may find in there. The last guy went from the outside so I decided I would too because it didn't look that great.

The 1/4" thick galvanized angle that was supposed to be added support. It actually just made the transom two pieces.

Cauter 04-15-2020 10:12 PM

I went ahead and started on the hull sides while I wait on the material for the transom. I found the faint outline of the name Dominator on the sides but it didn't show up in the pictures. I also found it was once registered in Florida before.

WE do love our projects. I would be very concerned about the inboard connection to the stringers and splashwell. I would open up the splashwell inside the transom and double check the tabbing and reinforce it at a minimum.. The inner pieces of plywood in the picture that you posted after removing the outer transom do not fill the entire inner transom area. The area where you are bolting the new motors is only two thicknesses of plywood and glass in places where the lower mounting bolts will be. You are hanging a lot of weight on the two pieces of plywood and the 1708. There is not much bonding area to the hull sides and bottom. You are depending on the inner structure of the old transom for strength. I just would not trust this without inspection. Also the vinyl drain tubes are not going to be bonded to and seal the new transom work. They should be replaced by fiberglass drain tubes that you can easily fabricate and bond to the new transom sealing the new plywood core as you do it. I applaud your efforts and just want to add some sincere advice so that you are safe and pleased with the final outcome. Bob.

Cauter 04-15-2020 11:13 PM

I left out a few pictures as not to bore everyone. I laid a total of 6 layers of 1708 to the original tabbing of the inner skin and also put in 2 stringers between the original skin and the bulkhead. I also made sure I completely filled in between the hull sides and new ply with some 406. I also made the holes around the drains 2 1/2 times larger and filled them in with 406 as well.

Cauter 04-15-2020 11:17 PM

I also placed a piece of aluminum c channel with rounded edges inside the transom and I have another for inside the splash well for helping distribute the weight across the transom. I also plan on laying up a few layers of 1708 on the inside before mounting motors.
