I can only suggest ya find what glue Stockton used on the Titan sub to seal the titanium endcaps into carbon tube, then try something different. I know they say10mm carbon driveshafts can handle 3000hp of torsional twist, but getting aluminum end caps to stick to carbon fiber and hold those power levels, well at least your not setting inside it...

Shaft will see, in theory, 2000Nm torque each. If insert is 120mm long and 110mm diameter, it give 41448mm2 glue surface area. 2000Nm torque make 1000mm/(110mm/2)x2000Nm=36364N shear force to shaft glue seam if I calculate correct? So glue strenght must be higher than 36364N/41448mm2=0.88N/mm2, right? For example 3M DP420 have 31N/mm2 (4500psi) shear strenght, safety factor is 35 times versus required.
I don't think gluing end caps is a problem, at least it should not to be. Loctite have also good products to do the job.
I think there will be some other problems to solve before engine make 3000hp so drive shafts get that much torque, but we maybe know it in future.

Splitbox gears and housing get done last week, machine shop did good work. O-ring groove is milled to housing center section, no sealant is needed, its easy to assemble and disassemble. Accuracy looks good and centering pins are nice fit, no hammering needed to get all together. Input gear have to get temper, output shafts, driveshaft flanges and output gears have to machine ready and splined. Near city spline machine shop guys retired, new shop is in search. Big companies are difficult because they want 3D drawings and they are not interested at small quantity manufacture, small old school places are best but many of them have discontinued business and take know-how to grave with you.

This is such an interesting build, cant wait to see progress, just bought a 47 lightning with triple 502 and was planning to go diesel at some point.
good luck to you

Thanks! I think 47' Fountain is best compromise for speed, living space and style. I live almost all weekends in boat in summer. My friend have two good condition 600hp seateks and ZF transmissions for sale in Holland 25k€ for all, its good price. They could easily turn up for more power.

Engine get oil in and prelube done. Few small leaks but not any big deal to solve. Oil pressure get up to 4 bar, its enough for prelube. Transmash engine have to prelube before start because oil is feed in hollow crankshaft to bearings, if it is empty of oil when starting, there will be bearing damage.
Petersson nashcar dry sump tank work great, very aerated oil come from savage pump to tank but I take oil sample from tank bottom drain valve and oil have absolute no air bubbles.
Here is first oil from engine that I don't want back to engine if it has metal shavings, sand dust etc.. Its like foam and keep air in maybe one hour!

This oil come from dry sump oil tank, its have no air in after 15min prelube period. Systems should work fine! Fuel system air bleed left and then its start time, stay tuned.

Drives are little short because this is more cruiser boat than race boat, props can not come half meter over the swim platform. Post #143 is drawing of drive assembly. Prop hub front to bottom trailing edge is 1150mm. Drives can be mounted much lower than arneson ASD 8, boat have notch and there will be extension boxes before drives.

Engine make first smoke after many years today. Few fuel and oil leaks but other all work fine. Sound is pretty brutal, each cylinder is 198cid. Idle hump should disappear when engine get more load and inertia for example transmission and accessory drive. I put 10W-40 synthetic oil in because prelube work better, thinner oil penetrates all around. Engine is designed straight sae 50 oil, but I think use 20W-50 valvoline VR1 or Kendall GT-1. Thin oil doesn't stay inside engine, exhaust manifolds have lot of oil inside, it come through piston rings and valve stems. Next thing to do is build rest of engine ready, put cooling fluid in and make accessory drive hydraulics work so crankcase vacuum pump can be tested. It should help a lot of oil consumption, if not enough, I have to fit exhaust pressure control flaps to tail pipes and keep 3bar back pressure at idle.

oil in exhaust.
