Fountain 47, 2372cid single engine diesel
Hi guys, I asked earlier who have fastest diesel V bottom boat on earth. Topic focus to my Fountain instead of find out what boat is fastest.
Every other of you will think I'm crazy, maybe, but I'm trying to build very fast, fuel efficient boat without million euros investment. Boat is 1999 model 47 Lightning, original triple 525EFI Engine Transmash V12, 38.88liters, 2372cid, twin HX80 turbo (91mm), Bosch P3000 fuel pump Transmission heavily modified ZF5HP600 automatic transmission Crossbox and twin custom surface drives You asked pic in general boating section, here is few pics of engine You can see aluminium water cooled exhaust manifolds, somekind generator version use those. These are very rare, usually they are made of cast iron. Alu version weight only 25kg/piece Crarnkshaft and conrods are billet steel in stock. Pistons are forged six bolt main caps (main bolts are 22mm and side bolts 12mm if remember right) wet iron liners fuel system is not good, I will replace it completely with Bosch stuff I have made piston oil squirts, pistons will melt without nozzles Tractor pulling engines make 3000-4000hp almoust stock internals, marine long run power should be good somewhere 2000-3000hp. Cooling is much better in marine world. Big block conrod vs Transmash, it's slaverod design if you have never seen something like that. Advantage is wider bearing surface area and shorter crank and engine. They are made of billet chrome steel and hand polished in stock! |

New Bosch P3000 pump, regrind cam to fit Transmash firing order, 13mm plungers, 680mm3/stroke fuel delivery, theoretical max power is 3200hp if efficiency stay good at higher power levels. Engine is at least big enough. |

There are no rod bolts at all! rod big ends are tapped, it's very solid fit and very expensive to manufacture, a lot of machining work. this engine is made early 60's so no CNC milling.... By the way, all aluminium is duraluminium, later called 2000 series, used on airframe fabrication. Tensile strenght are much higher than present day recycle beer can ****. |
