LOTO Shootout-Team Kansas

So what was the number this year for the Team Kansas Saber? I saw an 85 mph pass but missed the last part of Sunday's footage.

It was a great weekend!!! Great Event!! I really liked the new location!!!

Our goal for the weekend was 85 and we ended up running 86 on Sunday, the gps showed a little more but peaked past the radar guns. Then for our last run we took the boat and ran up the lake quite a ways to burn some fuel off and came back to the start boat with just enough fuel for one last pass, but found we had a bad plug and didn't have the time to fix it. So we put her on the trailer and called it a day.... I would have liked to run again just to see what we could have got, maybe another mph or two..... All in all I was real proud of the boat!! It took a good set and ran straight and true.....

BTW, the reason I wanted to go back out is, my 86 sounded real cool until a PONTOON ran 89mph!!!

Hey Brad, Congrats on the run !! Are you guys still running the shorties on the boat ?

FunHome 08-25-2008 11:00 AM

Thanks!! Yep I still have the Shorties on there. They work well once your up and running but it takes a little while to plane off with the big wheels we were spinnin.....

Steve_H 08-25-2008 11:12 AM

That Saber can tear it up. Congrats guys :ernaehrung004:

FunHome 08-25-2008 04:02 PM

Thanks guys!! Not bad for just a couple of small blocks......

littledcsrodshop 08-25-2008 06:14 PM

Did you run the boat by yourself , or was there a driver in there with you ??

Von Bongo 08-25-2008 07:38 PM

Great runs guys, very impressive out of the old girl!

FunHome 08-28-2008 10:33 AM

Thanks Mike!! Great job on the "play-by-play" it helps to have an insider up in the booth!!! Sorry we didn't get a chance to visit over the weekend and I'm sorry if I didn't get my info to you but we were thrashing to get the boat done up until we left for the lake!!! I figured you remembered a lot from the "years" before....
Next time they need you walking the docks doing interviews!!!

Von Bongo 08-28-2008 10:42 AM

Thanks for the kind words, it was a lot of fun this year!

If you don't get us the info it's ok, we just make stuff up!

FunHome 08-28-2008 10:59 AM

I heard I also need to teach you guys haw to say Basehor, KS
It pronounced (Bay-sure or Bay-Shore) not (Base-Whore) LOL!!

Von Bongo 08-28-2008 11:53 AM

FunHome 08-29-2008 10:56 AM

Mike, Yea I bet it was!!
Scott, Jeremy (that raced with me last year, you met him in Chatt.) was in the boat with me.

FunHome 08-29-2008 10:58 AM

I wonder what her top speed was back in the "Wavehippie" days??

I may have reach a all time high for her.....

81 was the top speed with A-class engines. Back when you had to use the very restrictive Merc cast iron exhaust and intakes.

Just a little less blur on the boat and I think it would have been perfect.

The link to our pics for the weekend is here, and there is a zip file on there you can download for the full res pics. I don't think Jamie took any more of your boat, but I can ask him.
