the test mule/plug was running a 525.
The 1st hull from the mold w/ a 600 is now running 101, and still on the limiter.

Its a pretty neat ride, looked it over in Miami. In all reality, for as low profile and light as it is it should run that. Hell, it only weighs half what my boat does. And dont forget the price tag, for 185k I could get mine to run that and ride a lot better doing so with gas money left for years of running. Not bashing it, I liked it for what it is, a sit down low profile boat.

i chatted w/ saber about a yr ago... to build a boat similar to team kansas...
I'd be priced about 160-170 w/ a pair of ilmor sbc v8s and xr drives.
That would do 100+ easy, but more importantly, cruise at 65-70.

BTW, I'm not pumping the OL... i'm just letting artie (and anyone reading here) know the facts.
It was a 600 not 525 getting those #s.

Yeah, nothing is cheap when starting from scratch, power, drives and rigging are big bucks. We were discussing something similar last summer, 3 man with staggered big power small blocks. I think it would be a killer ride, but will be a while before I can afford to build anything. Fun to dream about though lol.

Wow!! A new 28 Saber with twin staggered small blocks, that would be real cool!! Or you could buy mine... I've kicked around the idea but can't seem to bring myself to list it....

right you are, but the plug did 94 plus with a 525 lol. I am going down there next week. going to get a price on taking the rocker out. and see where the cg is ,if they can work with the motor in the boat. other wise its coming out. also getting a price on the new gas tank. or we will run sand bags in the ski locker. I think that boat ol will run great in any water, after hearing from BOXER after his ride in it in RI.

new hulls

I was real close, to starting with a new hull. all were 35,000 to 55,000. that was with cockpit seating. boat sizes were 28 Joker,28 Banana, 30y2k superboat and 31 Sutphen red hull. which is set up for twins now. the sutphens new deck design is, awesome. after I had bought my drive and motor in 08. a local guy I new lowered the price on his 31 05 sutphen with 800hp to 65,000 or bo from 118,000. I died. I thought about buying it and swapping out my motor and drive, sell his. if only he would of lowered it before I bought my stuff. I would of been driving around in that trouble free for 3yrs now:party-smiley-004: or maybe not lol. I hope fixing the bottom makes it right, cause the konrad so much beefier than a xr. I think the saber will run around a 100 with my drive height and power. hell I hit 80 with 500lbs in the bow 380k planes all the way down and trimmed all in at 5000rpm.:eekdrop:. so once the hop is gone, planes up and trimmed rpms spinning 6000 to 6400 yah it will be there. I love the cockpit/dash and cabin too. better than the ones I looked at. if saber vac bagged there hulls I bet 85 would be done with a v10 625 or merc 600. and there should be lots of profit at 100,000 for a 525/ 125,000 for a 600-625 package. singles these are or twin 377s. 85 is a all round good speed for selling boats. it would be nice to see some out there.

just bought a p5 32 prop, one more test before I do anything. that way I have run 3 5 blades, and one b1 4 blade all bow lifting props. so I will try a p5 transom lifting prop to see we have been running in the wrong direction. if we see a differents then more sand bags to see if a new tank will do it. otherwise its see whats more bottom straightened or trans done over. if its cheaper to do the transom over I will sell the konrad and buy the scx drive. go back to the way it ran before. later
