I've got my 28 apache for sale here on OSO. Its got 40 hours on repower.

Not 100% sure, but I think the apache has a solid fiberglass hull (no core). Do sabers have a wood core? I know they use balsa in the deck. Do they use balsa to core the hull? The Sabers are lighter boats no doubt. Is the balsa core the reason for this? Just curious.........

The Saber's are pretty much balsa cored throughout.. The entire hull itself and most of the upper deck.. I'm guessing the rest are the same way, but I know my transom also consists of a 3/4" sheet of balsa and a sheet of ply laminated togather..

Not the cheapest way to lay up a boat, but a very good one !!

To answer your question about the weight, I have no doubt it helps contribute to them being lighter, all while gaining strength at the same time..

Thanks guys, all are nice boats but as I said, he only wants a 28 Saber with twin IO's

They are completely cored thruout and I dont believe there is any balsa in the transom. Balsa everwhere else

Not trying to derail the thread, but my transom is definitely 3/4" Balsa laminated to a sheet of 3/4 ply, with the balsa on the "outer layer"

Now you have me curious.. Somebody go take a hole saw to theirs real quick and let us know what you find..:lolhit:

whats your buget? I'll look around here. theres a 31 89 sutphen hull cut for twin bravos, new cockpit 14,000. if you want a running boat, what do you want to spend. I'll see who is selling out here.

Hey Nauti, you ever get the magnum done? Hope all is well.

Tom B.

Nauti Kitty 03-09-2012 05:44 PM

Hi Tom
I decided to sell two of the three I had and buy this Saber. I am in the middle of a huge restoration of an old Chris Craft commander and when I'm done I'm taking a few years off to boat. I hear you have a big project going yourself. I am heading over to see it one of these days with Ellis when he and I can get the time together. Looking forward to seeing it
