My 38 Scarab Is Almost Done!!!
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys. Just thought I'd post some pictures of my boat as of right now. This boat really came along. It's an '89 model (but bought in '88) and looked like sh*t when I first got it (sat in florida for 7 years straight). The hull was basically yellow instead of white, the cabin looked like a Limo (lots of mirrors) and the guages were crappy plastic and fell in everytime we used the boat. Here are the things that were done to it:
Repainted hull bright white (Used to be an off white with black, blue and teal stripes) Repainted originally black helm to white All Brand new Gaffrig guages and switches Custom Stainless steel dash panels New navy blue carpet (inside and out, replaced teal) Custom seats (Old ones were rotted) Custom Engine hatch New Cabin everything For power it has 454 (bored out to 468) 525 hp Bandit Racing engines with TRS drives It goes about 65 mp but We're gonna try to make it go 80 mph with New engines and bravos. Now here are the pics (Sorry no before pictures): |

heres the cabin
We opened the storage in the front to make it another place for cushions, and the thing that's hanging down in the fron of it is usually buttoned up but we were letting air into that space. So what do you guys think? |

Re: My 38 Scarab Is Almost Done!!!
anyone know how fast this boat would go if i put twin merc 500EFI engines in it with Bravo one drives?
Right now it goes ~65 mph with 525 hp engines and trs drives. |
Re: My 38 Scarab Is Almost Done!!!
About the same, 490 PHP for a 500 EFI. If you have TRS drives I would look at a Konrad Drives. Might be a bettter Drive and no engine relocation would need to be done. Then get some 650-700 HP engines and you will go 80 with reliability.

Re: My 38 Scarab Is Almost Done!!!
Very Nice...Aren't you in the New York Area? We should meet up in the sound some day and make some noise. I have a 1986 34'. I found that with the deep V, you need SERIOUS HP to make more speed. We put 496's in, they are about 525hp and the boat did not go much faster than when it had 454's. It costs a lot of money to make these boats go 80.

Re: My 38 Scarab Is Almost Done!!!
I hate to sound like a buzz kill but you might need alot more motor to get that kind of a jump in speed . but keep your hopes up I seen freakier thing happen.
