Eddie,
Here are a few shots of the engines. Like I said they need some fresh paint and both need head jobs which is being done as we speak! |

Looks like you might have borg warner trannys...????
Are you going to keep the Fresh water cooling? Was your originally fresh water cooled? Are you running TRS's with Borg Warners? |
I am running trs drives with merctrans.
Never had fresh water cooling...I have a really slick flushing set up were I can Hook 1 hose up to the side and flush both motors without even opening the hatches. I did not want to add it either because it is already hard enough to work in there as it is. I have the steel intake so it does ok. |
I assume they are 454's, What kind of horsepower and speed do you see?
The 502's are making about 565HP ea. The boat will run mid 80's on a pitot speedo, Can't wait to see what she runs on a GPS! |

I hope to have the scarab in the water next year. I plan to spend most of my time on sebago with it. You spend any time at the sand bar at the mouth of the songo river? |
454's 330hp...60mph on my gps...
Your GPS will disappoint you!! This is a very hard hull to make speed with. The outdrives are so deep in the water. If your hitting 80 then maybe they raised your x-dim. That might explain why your hatches are flush mounted...What props are you running? |
I am expecting high 70's with over 1100HP but who knows, I am not sure what props I have and they are all tucked away right now for the winter. When I pull the other boat out of the garage I will take a look at the props.
