Flat Deck Scarab
 

Well guys, My Scarab is a 1982 flat deck. Just about everything you can imagine has been done. It started out as the old "Anchored" boat from Mass. The boats city on the back said it was from Boston, but I bought it from a guy in Cape Cod. I replaced the cabin stringer, all the bulk heads, put an enclosed head in it, all the gauges, interior, myself and a buddy painted it, rebuilt the motors, and now finally the whole project is coming to an end. When I get set up I'll post some pictures. If anybody else has a flat deck let me know.

As a matter of fact it does. You'd better watch what you say, I think you've sat in that seat once.

I have a 1988 30' Scarab Panther flat deck. What's up this the flat deck design, are they supposed to be the performance models?

Hey Blue Lightning, the flat decks in my opinion looked a little better then the raised decks. Along as you don't mind sacrificing a little head room in the cabin. I used to own a 1988 30 Panther, mine had 330's and bravo's. I did a little head work to the engines and the boat ran quite well. I was just ready to step up to a 38. kaama82

Hi Kaama... My Panther has 454 mags with high performance aluminum heads. Not sure what it will run this year. Pulled motor number two over the winter and found all kinds of things wrong that would have made it run poor. I believe I was running low to mid seventies at the end of last year and am looking forward to trying her out now that I am firing on all eight in the SB engine. What type of top end could you get with 330s?

Scarab is owned by Larry Smith
Larry Smith has a agreement with Wellcraft to produce boats using his designs and
the Scarab name.
Team Scarab also produces boats in SoCal but have their
own numbers.

there is a check box on the bottom of the reply form. if yu check it you get an email everytime someone replies to teh threadIf you go into the prfile seciton you can change the defaul so this feature gets turned off.

mike j, My flat deck, I believe is a Wellcraft Scarab.
Blue lightning, My Panther topped out at about 68-70. I put different exhaust, intakes, and carbs on it to do that.

Aren't the vipers flat deck's, as well as the panther's

Yes, Vipers are flat decks too. 34 feet.
Panthers 30 feet. :) :)

kaama82, is there also a 31' viper.

j-boat. I think the Vipers were in fact 31's. I can't remember what the 34 flat decks were called. Can anyone help me????:confused:

Good afternoon watcher of Buzzin Bye! Caught a little free time today. 34 flat deck scarabs were called Ninja's. there is one at pier 75. They are pretty cool looking.

I used to have a 38 raised deck. I'm sure when you wrote "flat decks in my opinion looked a little better then the raised decks", you certainly couldn't be referring to mine.
Actually, I was just looking for an excuse to try to post a pic.

Thanks Dan, I couldn't remember what they were called, and I call myself a Scarab guy. Gary, no offense, your raised deck is sweet, after all it is a Scarab........:D

I thought I knew alittle about scarab's but I've never seen a ninja .

Thats just another benefit of this board and the knowledge of it's members.

The Ninja that BuzzinBye is talking about is the only one I've ever seen. He's from Toledo, and racks the boat at Pier 75. I saw him last year at Put-in-Bay. He really liked my boat. :p

BuzzinBye or Kaama, is it a one of a kind custom or prototype, or did scarab make a few of them?

I believe it was a production boat, but don't hold me to that. Dan any ideas?????

I'm trying to get the baja guys to do a little posting for us to increase our post #'s but so far they have nibbled but have not run with it :D :D :D :D

as far as I know it was a production boat, i have seen a few over the years for sale. They also made a 34 flat deck with outboards and called it a Raider. I have also seen a couple of these for sale.
It is great to know that this mind full of useless information is going to some use!

DAN, the black boat I was telling you about Sat. I thought was a Ninja, was in fact a Raider. I seen that black Raider at Put-in-Bay a few times.
