Looking for a cabin door latch (89 excel)

Looking for a the cabin latch for an 89 excel. I would like to see a pic of how it is even suppose to look I just have the hole in the door. I was thinking about making one, but if I could just re-make the factory one that would be easier

I gave up on mine. I used two polaris snowmobile hood hold downs. Works 10 times better. The door never budges

Nice idea those will be a lot easier to find. I was wondering if the old one was POS and that was why it was broke.

If it was smoked plexi, a slider type, the original equipment manufacturer was Viplex in Sarasota, but I understand they've been merged or bought out over all these years. They also made several other plexi/lexan products for the Scarab models like wind deflectors and wind shields.

I might be able to get a pict of it tomorrow when I go down to the boat to open her up for the season. It uses a hook & eye to stay open, and an unusual latch to close.

I never bother to latch it closed, or lock it up. There's no point letting a moron smash a $1500 door to steal a $200 stereo. :) Perko probably made the latch, I'll see what mine says.

Jim,

Only 1 of my picts turned out, but here is the angle from INSIDE the cabin. The piece I'm holding is like a flip phone, it pulls out and then I'm able to turn the barrel to lock the door. The brown/brass "bullet" stub to the right of this is what penetrates the molding on the boat to lock the door.

The outside is simply a round chrome push button with key.

You can see "Eberhard Patent Pending" in the pict.

Hope this helps.
