side vents

Does anyone know if there is a place to get new side and front deck vent covers for the 1996 26 scarab?...or how to repair the existing ones?

Mine have a couple of cracks in them, and since I live on the mississippi river in IL, I probably won't be boating for a little while and might take them off and put new on or try to fix the current ones.

Thinking about selling my (10 out of 10) 26 scarab!

scarabsc 06-04-2009 07:11 PM

me to what are the specifics of yours how much are you thinking of asking for it

scarab+ 06-05-2009 09:39 AM

Fresh 555cid/ 800efi, XR/IMCO, full hydraulic steering, upgraded tabs, new gauges. Over 80k invested. I think 35k is reasonable. Runs mid 80s.

scarabsc 06-07-2009 03:15 PM

What prop are you running on your boat? I think thats a fair price hope that you get what you are aking for it, sounds like a nice rig.

scarab+ 06-10-2009 08:49 PM

Ok I took my 26 out today w/ my gps and recorded 60mph maxed out, can't tell you the rpm because the tach was acting screwie. Normally it's 5200-5400. It's a stock 502 MPI w/ Imco powerflow risers, elbow, and through transom exhaust. Full tank of gas two adults (not skinny). Stock bravo 1 and a mirage 23p prop. Sound right to you guys? If not where to start?

d24sf49 11-16-2009 02:10 PM

mine is stock also with 24p lab finish and i only get about 64 tried a 26 lost rpm

Philster 11-20-2009 10:10 AM

My Scarab 26 is going in for some CMI elbow-top headers this winter (maybe before xmas). Water won't get dumped into the exhaust until the transom. She'll be bone stock, except for the CMI headers, fresh graphics and a couple of new gauges. A modern prop is on order, too (old original Mirage lacks aggressive design).

I like reliable, turn-key type of performance. Can anyone suggest any mods worth making that don't risk engine integrity, but give good bang for the buck?

(502 EFI Merc).

d24sf49 11-21-2009 07:24 AM

headers or a whipple charger is all that has been suggested to me i guess it is hard to work around the computer most engine builders want to switch you to a carb engine

scarab+ 11-21-2009 09:59 AM

Stick with the EFI there. I have 800+hp in my 96 26 Scarab, stock injectors with a procharger. Modified by Ron Sporl.

d24sf49 11-22-2009 08:22 AM

thanks for the info did you have to upgrade your efi comp.

scarab+ 12-12-2009 07:45 PM

Yes, Mefi 2. Programed by Mark @ Percision

i had a 26 scarab with the hp 500 and it had a 23 mirage plus 3 blade at 5300 rpm so i assume the 503 efi would have the 23 3 blade at5000 rpm
