Pro, I have a 22.3 scarab. Based on Patchy's math, It'll do about 358 miles per hour, but here on earth it dings 70, not GPS'd. I wanted a Larry Smith, but the wallet ruled that out. I think this boat has been a wonderful way to delve into the realities of what it takes to own a "performance" boat. Can hardly imagine these big boats, and what it takes to keep em alive and well.

That's a nice Scarab you have. The lines on that boat have never been duplicated.
I was going to buy that same Scarab last year.Drove clear out to Misourri last summer from Colorado and did a sea trial and the motor blows up 10 minutes into the sea trial. He had a 502ci procharged motor that detinated due to poor quality fuel. The entire motor grenaded.

Oh well....worked out for the best.Got my current boat.

Yea, I had read your posts on that situation. Bad for the buyer, huge step back for the seller also, but, better that bullet popped on the trial than on your new ownership voyage!! Mine is the 94 that was "modded" selling on Ebay. It's been an excellent first boat, once all the principals were made correct. I was looking to upsize to a larger Scarab.
