Black in the original one but I think the white gives it a sleeker and more modern look....

I just bought a 1991 31 scarab, which has a similar windshield. I am going to change the windshield out to white as well. Plastic Engineering here in Tulsa can make you a new one with white lexan, you would have to have the windshield frame and support powder coated white. Take the smoked/black pieces to Plastic Engineering for templates.

I think the black makes it look sleeker while the white makes it look taller. How about a dark smoke so in in daylight it will look black but if necessary you can use it.

I like white. Looks more modern, however a smoked, see through, would be more funtional if you decide not to go with white.
