Hey Westcoast, I forgot to ask if you have hydraulic steering. If so what do you have? Are your trim tabs stock?

No hydraulic steering....Yet. Its kind of like driving an old vette. Lots of power and fast as hell but loose as a goose:cool-smiley-027:. The boat came with a bennett single ram and I upgraded to the dual ram sport tab.

That is shocking-I am really suprised it can go that fast with the Trs drives. I know that the bravo panthers could all do 70+ with tame power but I did not know they even made a TRS panther....what year is it?

Its an '86 with Borg Warner trannies, Merc 425's with Wieand Stealth intakes, Barry Grant (Holley) 750's, and Stainless Marine Exhaust. The Iron rectangle heads were cut from 118cc to 114.4cc to bump up the compression a little. I spun Mirage 25's around 5200 but they were thinned and cupping was added. We will see what I need with the new power.

I have seen Panthers with: TRS's, Bravo's and an '87 with Alpha's. I also have a buddy that has an '89 with 330's and bravo's. 62gps 23 mirage+ at 4800.

Scott

Standard horizon model CP180
This is the only unit that will fit in the dash. Otherwise I would have gone with the garmin.

Likes:
pretty easy to use. Has a large screen that you can display you speed on.
If you by the westcoast chip for it the charts are unreal.
The 3D mode is really cool.
Color screen
Dislikes:
Without the chip the charts are worthless.
You can't get the depth to work without a "black box" and a transducer--black box cost is over $400 dollars.

All in all I really love the unit...like I said It is the only unit that will fit. I have run offshore several times and used it to find Catalina and found it to be very user friendly.

Call me if you want to talk further about it.
Take care
eddie

Where did you get your tailpipes? What did you use to attach them to the risers and and tips? This looks a lot cleaner than my old exhaust hose that I hate by the way-

The tips I got from Eddie Marine-4 inch angle cut. Then I bought some 4 inch polished tubing and cut 4 peices (i think they were 16 inches) and coupled them with merc exhaust boots at the risers and 4inch hose at the tips. I am very happy with how that turned out.

Eddie-

You need a vacation. I know of a really nice place you can go- its a little north and the weather sucks but there is lots to do and you won't be bored!!:D
