Restoring an old scarab

As I said earlier, I am restoring a 1991 34' Scarab Super Sport. This boat was damaged on the left side in the rear (about a 10' section), and repaired professionally about 7 years ago and never finished. It had the fiberglass work done but never painted. I bought the boat 2 years ago and have sunk alot of money ($5K) in the body work and paint job (which will be finished tomorrow). The repaired portion is ok, I had another fiberglass man look at the repairs, but I am concerned with the rest of the hull. Has anyone ever restored a boat after it has sat up for that long? Should I be worried that it sat outside for 7 years possably holding water? Does this boat have wooden beams? It feels OK but now that it is almost time to go offshore I have some concerns.

All opinions welcome.

I would have it check out for moisture in the stringers and tramson. I replaced some stringers in my flat deck. What a job, but also learned some tricks too.

maybe have a surveyor take a look at it; they know where to look and how important/what the consequences are. etc. Best of luck to you. - Jeff
