IMO, you can break down and buy a nice running one for 45-55K, or buy a non vice one in fair shape for 30-40K and spend another 20K to paint it. I'd go with option one and have the real collectable! I always did like the flat decks!
The one in Spain was sold finally for 13K.
The hull seemed to be ok except all the gelcoat on the deck was wasted as was the cockpit and the gauges because of neglect...thats a perfect example of the manyana mentality down there.
Seems it had a moisture problem in the interior at least.
I´m glad I didn´t plunk money on that one..it´s the second project 38KV MV edition that I did let slip by.
A Scarab as a bare hull project can turn into a nightmare when you find out the rotten stringers and transom...
I´ve seen perfect examples to the outside be totally junk.
A good boat well taken care of and stored properly (not outside or in the water) will always command High prices.
I´ve seen a 128hrs on the hourmeters that has been in the water for less than 80hrs (a 1987 KV MV) that was as good as it gets. Always stored indoors and spotless.
It amases me that people still command premium prices from boats that are junk/projects even thou a MV paint scheme looks good, but is a pain to duplicate.
I´ve seen it done once but Id rather not see it done the second time...

How much did you end up selling the boat for? Someone got a great deal. When will the new owner pick up the boat? I would like to take some photos of the interior.
