egine hatches
How are you doing guys. Im new to this. I have an 89 scarab panther need some info on a problem that Im having. If the hatch is down, and there is no juice going to the hatch switch, how do you get the hatch open?
|
you have to find a way to reach into the engine compartment anr pull the pin on the actuator mount and open the hatch by hand...:cool-smiley-011:

I keep an extra battery under my back seat and have 2 wires spliced to the wires on the hatch motor. I just touch the wires to the battery posts and the hatch opens reverse the wires and the hatch closes.
If motor breaks or hatch mechanism breaks the you have to remove you sunpad, pull the round hatch plate in the middle of you hatch and then reach under and pull the cotter pin from the hatch cylinder. |
It's a heavy SOB I can tell you. No fun at all, lol.

Scarab engine hatch
The hatch on my 89 31 Excel will open lifting with the strap and by hand approximately 1 foot if the batteries are low or dead. Then you can reach in and remove the pin to fully open the hatch. Yes, one heavy SOB but you don't need to remove the hatch on mine anyway.

Sawzaw :)

my 89 does the same, lift the cover 1 foot and pull the pin!!

engine hatches
I asked the question awhile back and everyone gave me some good advise on opening the hatch. When my boat was made they never put an access panel so you can get to the pin. So if anyone runs into the problem of the hatch switch not working due to low battery? I found another way, take a jump box and run a jump wire to the hot side of the switch. What you are doing is by-passing the battery and the switch will work and the hatch will open

I hear you. Mine didn't have an access hatch either. I just had to put my back into it and lift it to pull the pin. It's a PITA. Like your idea. :)
